Please see issues 217 and 389 in the Google repository. A mapsforge wrapper was added but later removed. A tileprovider is not possible because mapsforge is fundamentally different.

Mapsforge wrapper was removed because of mapsforge new API.

I don't need a wrapper, is enough a tile provider that get tiles from mapsforge file, but what I've read from here https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/osmdroid/gSieR9BF_z0 is a problem with speed because .map file can't be accessed from multiple treads in old version of mapsforge. There is same problem in rewrite version?

Active mapsforge development continues at rescue branch.

Multi-thread experiments at mapsforge showed not significant speed improvement.

I guess the multi-thread production of tiles from mapsforge can be tried also from osmdroid part, though with no success so far.
And there is always the osmdroid tile cache which someone will have to deal with.

osmbonuspack appears to have some code for mapsforge.

I don't think that we are going to tackle this. Please reopen if someone wants to submit a pull request or has additional information.
