Currently, the status.php must be unprotected. It's checked before any user information is available.

We can check that design decision, but can't promise we will change it.

I would welcome that design change. In our enterprise environment unprotected access from the internet to internal resources is very undesired. I was very glad to see that owncloud does work great if http auth is done by a trusted layer in front of it, this is the only exception we needed to make. And I think there is no technical constraint, since I need to enter my username and password anyhow and you can detect easily if the credentials are needed to perform the connection check.

I’m closing this issue because it has been inactive for a few months. This probably means that the issue is not reproducible or it has been fixed in a newer version.
