Thanks for reporting this issue and providing the fix code as well. I just pushed a fix but our build system is currently broken (I think it ran out of space or something similarly silly). We are looking into it now and should have a new release out with this fix shortly.

Very nice! Was easy to get started, syntax highlighting, autocompletion and type info works fine. But I did not get the built in compiler to work, do I need to configure anything more (than to activate the plugin)? I never really used eclipse before, do I need to create a special kind of project (and not only a folder based one)?

I needed to check the "Compile all Typescript on build" in Windows > Preferences. Works fine now. 👍
