paper_trail is designed for how people most commonly use Active Record. It looks like acts_as_eav_model allows a different, slightly unconventional way to use Active Record.

I would imagine that adapting paper_trail to support the EAV model in addition to its current uses would complicate the code somewhat. Since it's a minority use case, I'm not prepared to spend time on it.

Feel free to send in a patch (though if it complicates the code much I won't merge it).

thanks - I understand. Is there a way for me to get paper_trail to only "watch" a few attributes?

this wan I can set paper trail to only watch the "real" attributed and ignore the "eav" attributes.

Yes, you can use :only => ... or :except => .... See Choosing Attributes To Monitor in the README.
