Hmmm. I'm not sure I follow.
Instiki tries, wherever possible, to generate relative URLs.
One place where it doesn't do that is feed auto-discovery link (because the auto_discovery_link_tag helper stubbornly sets :only_path => false). I have a "fix" for that, which I will push out. But it's really only a temporary respite, because Atom feeds (by their nature and by Specification) must contain some absolute URLs which, in your scenario, will surely get screwed up.
Are there other instances of absolute URLs which should be relative?

Basically any and all URLs appeared to have been using an alias I had set up on my /etc/hosts file on my colleagues URLs too. Is Instiki getting the domain name from a user's browser? If so that would cause the problem.
IMHO URLs should always be relative unless absolutely necessary (such as in the case of Atom feed autodiscovery URLs).
For what it's worth, I was able to resolve the issue by making a trivial change to a single page on a machine without the /etc/hosts alias.

Scratches head
Are you talking about the 0.17 Release version of Instiki, or about the one on Github?
I had been assuming the latter. Please try using Instiki HEAD (remembering to clear out your cache directory), and see if the problem persists.
As of Revision 418, URLs generated by WikiLinks are all relative URLs. So are almost all of the links generated by the layout (the exception, AFAICT, being the feed auto-discovery links).

I gather that using Instiki HEAD fixed this issue.
