A Portuguese staple, passed down by the OG, but made vegetarian by me!
## Ingredients
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|:-:|:-:|
| Navy Beans | 1 15.5 oz Can, Low Sodium, Strained & Washed |
| Soy-rizo | 1 Package |
| Potatoes[^1] | 5 Pounds |
| Tomato Paste | 1 6 oz Can |
| Kale | 2 Bunches, Washed |
| Linguiça Seasoning | To Taste |
| Portuguse Allspice | 1 Tsp |
| Salt | To Taste |
| Pepper | To Taste |
| Crushed Red Pepper | To Taste |
| Vegetable Broth | 1 32oz Package, Low Sodium |
## Instructions
1. Fill pot with beans, 1 package of broth, and 2 packages worth of water; bring to a boil, then turn heat to low.
2. Add spices (linguiça seasoning, portuguese allspice, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper) and soy-rizo. Simmer for 1 hours, or until beans are soft.[^2]
3. Add tomato paste and potatoes. Cook on low for 1 hour.
4. Add kale. Continue to cook on low for 1 hour, or until potatoes are done.
5. Eat with plenty of cayenne-based hot sauces (our family swears by Frank's RedHot, but I'm starting to warm up to Crystal's!)
