Wow I've never seen something like this. I think is because it is attempting to read the ~/.zshrc and there is some strange character there which cannot be decoded via utf-8. Can you check that?

i run my ~/.zshrc throught a utf-8 validator, it resulted in a valid utf-8 file. I tried to replace it with an empty file and it worked fine.
This here is the file for the record.
i have grml-zsh-config installed.
