Peter Strömberg

Hi! I am Peter; father of five, husband, creator of Calva, co-creator of Joyride, and developer contractor. I regard curiosity as my super power along with creativity and communication. To succeed I meet challenges wielding kindness, the Clojure REPL, and 40 years of developer experience. I gain energy from coding and collaborating with others, fellow developers and users alike.

Clojure quite literally changed my life. I want to pay it forward. Many of my initiatives are focused on making the benefits of Clojure easier for developers to discover and learn. I am extra proud of the Get Started With Clojure REPL, an interactive, editor based, introduction to this practical and wonderful programming language.

Testimonials

As an Open Source contributor

Peter has done a tremendous job channeling the Clojure community interest in VS Code using Calva and Joyride into actual movement towards better tools, whether that's original open source development, welcoming new users and open source contributors, or just his infectious enthusiasm for Clojure and Calva. It is a joy to have him in the Clojure community and I think he's doing wonderful and important work as the open source steward for Calva.

As a Clojure contractor/consultant

Peter built a feature flag system for us at Pitch - a crucial project in our journey towards continuous delivery. While managing many stakeholders and delivering technical excellence, Peter inspired and positively impacted the people around him. His passion for teaching and Clojure went beyond the assigned tasks, he regularly provided feedback on important projects, shared his knowledge on different Slack channels, gave talks and run workshops for us. We couldn’t have asked for more and Peter comes as a highly recommended professional!

Oskar Zabik, Director of Engineering at Pitch

I had known Peter for his instrumental role in making Clojure accessible to more people and recently I had a chance of working with him for a short while. It turns out Peter is not only a brilliant and thoughtful engineer, but also a wonderful person with a big heart. His aspiring aura lifts up the spirits of everyone around him and permeates through his work. Collaborating with Peter was one of my most memorable experiences.

Contact me

If you want my input on Clojure, Calva, Joyride, or any such thing. The Clojurians Slack is a great place to chat me up. As are Twitter and LinkedIn.

For discussiong business things, please use LinkedIn.

Public speaking scares me a bit, and I seldom seek it out. I need some help getting out of my comfort zone there, though. Please don't hesitate to check with me, if you think I would be a good fit for your meetup or similar.
