I feel this is new bug as the earlier versions were showing proper syntax highlighting for the same code.

You mean this syntax highlighting is alright and wont be fixed ? (because @adityatoshniwal has marked as closed this bug I had mentioned in another post as not planned !)

We see new bugs cropping up in every version release, the working functionalities stop working.
Otherwise, I always preferred PgAdmin compared to other software.

@tejasvih this is not an issue if you read the PostgreSQL docs mentioned in one comment on #7294.
The codemirror package(used for editor part) has implemented based on the docs.

To keep app up to date, we need to update outdated libs. As part of that, we moved from CodeMirror v5 to v6.

But still I feel, it has broken the feature. Issue might be something else, not because of $$ syntax . Because syntax highlight is showing properly in Azure Data Studio and Dbeaver and earlier version of PgAdmin
