Hello, sorry for late answer. I made a design, if you like the design which color variation do you prefer?

Running with your idea a bit further, I feel like this could be an angle.

Thanks for the offer @tebriz159. That would definitely be a much appreciated contribution. If you have any ideas then I'd really like to see them.
I'm still seeking suggestions on a real name for this project so wouldn't want anything based too much around the text at this moment. It would be good to have an icon though (similar width and height) that could be combined with a name later when we have it. The icon would ideally be suitably distinctive as a favicon in the browser tab/address bar or app launcher on mobile devices.
Thanks

Favicon (for web browser tabs at any rate) would look good in all black no text. The current build has a black background, so using the white and black version selectively would work.
Equally, two colours could play out for the rest of the ui design? Love the complimentary colour choices, although I must say the the green and red looks like it should be a December special. How would white with red (instead of grey) on black look?

Hi @tebriz159. Thank you very much for doing these designs and it's interesting to see which direction you took this in. I hope my comments don't seem mean as I am grateful. I guess I am a very critical client as I've done some logo designs, run a logo contest and work closely with designers in my day job.
I would say that it is a bit too thin and complex for what I was after as I think the detail would get lost, particularly in a tab icon. I keep seeing the letter 'L' and the geometry seems a bit off - curves following the circle etc. I definitely prefer the monochrome versions as I want to let the user's photos or background images stand out as the colours, like in the UI.
Don't worry about refining it as I realise it's quite difficult with it being so undefined and not even having a name yet! It has grown on me a bit so I will come back and see how I feel towards it later.
Thanks again,
Damian

@damianmoore I didn't actually realise until now that the local install does already have a favicon?
from photonix.
Yeah it does @Soharic but it's very generic - originally from Google's material icons.

Finally came up with a logo mark and favicon that I'm happy with. It's committed in the master branch now. A proper blog post going through the design process will be added to the website soon. Should work well as an application icon without much adjustment. Think you'll agree, it's a lot simpler if nothing else ;-)
