But mcrypt is dead. Time to move to sodium or openssl.

Still feeling out the new system but I think this counts as "invalid" because mcrypt isn't part of the PHP core anymore.

I wish this was my choice... But I think migrating stuff to 8.1 will be a good chance to do that.

Seriously, installing composer phar to manage php updates is like introducing yet another can of worms to consume whenever a php issue arrives knocking at your door. Good grief. This is not a valid solution.
