Tried for a few minutes to get a better setuptools-type install.

Here we are:

import setuptools

setuptools.setup(
    name='sbn',
    version=0.0,
    packages=['sbn'],
    package_dir={'sbn': '.'},
    package_data={'sbn': ['sbn.cpython-37m-x86_64-linux-gnu.so']},
)

But probably best to do a full setuptools install.

At one point I thought I was going to need to use something like this
