This is mostly in the hands of the client application, due to the way that datatables.js works it's ajax submission. It's not very flexible, so providing an implementation will eclipse the default one. It can be copy-and-pasted, but then if the client application provides its own handler, it eclipses the new one.

It's kind of a mess until they add some kind of hook for specifying direct callback handlers such that this app can provide one that doesn't interfere with the client code.

On the other hand, I've made a pull request on our application to provide a mechanism.
