My apologies that I've taken so long to visit this issue.

If this is still an outstanding problem, some addition troubleshooting might be good, so we can figure it out. I added a few DecimalField columns into the example app just to test things out, and I appeared to get the baseline expected results.

For example, I tried the following field declaration:

field = models.DecimalField(max_digits=10, decimal_places=2)

I set the value to 77.125, and the field renders that into 77.13. I actually must query the field using that rounded value:

>>> MyModel.objects.filter(field=77.125)
[]
>>> MyModel.objects.filter(field=77.13)
[<MyModel: field=77.13>]
>>> MyModel.objects.filter(field=77.13)[0].field
Decimal('77.13')

Would you find it helpful if the search term you gave (77.125) was rounded to match the DecimalField's number of decimal places? This would let you search 77.125, but still get the result for a matching 77.13.
