Solved my own problem: So even though I had python --version
Python 2.7.10 , when I type pop install it must be installing for 3.4...
Using (https://docs.python.org/2/installing/):
python2 -m pip install SomePackage # default Python 2
python2.7 -m pip install SomePackage # specifically Python 2.7
python3 -m pip install SomePackage # default Python 3
python3.4 -m pip install SomePackage # specifically Python 3.4
I can change plotly specifically for version 2.7 and now works fine.

Thanks for reporting! I thought that this line: https://github.com/plotly/python-api/blob/master/setup.py#L37 would take care the dependency, but apparently not. @theengineear any ideas?
from plotly.py.
Here is full pip.log
. I doubt it will help, since there is nothing more interesting... I know that distutils
hasn't support install_requires
. Cannot be somehow used internally instead of new setuptools?
By the way I'm using python 3.4.0-3 on Arch Linux.

Hey, fixed, this is something I actually put in version.py that requires requests. However, we require version in the setup.py! Little oversight. Fixed now in 1.0.13.
Thanks for reporting!

I am still getting this error.

Afterwards, importing plotly works just fine. This is on a fresh install of Python 3.4.1, without any other packages installed.
Would you mind sending me the error you get when you do this:
pip install --upgrade plotly
python -c "import plotly"
(where depending on how you machine is setup, python
might be python3
or python34
or something)
Thanks!
from plotly.py.
I typed: pip install --upgrade plotly
and it installed fine, and then I type: python -c "import plotly"
and get

I am using mac, with python --version
Python 2.7.10
but I also have python 3.4 installed
from plotly.py.
Having the same issue in windows (8.1) and solve as indicated by moritzmcgarrie:
Using (https://docs.python.org/2/installing/) for pyhton 3.6 :
py -3.6 -m pip install plotly
from plotly.py.
I only have python 3.4, and even though I install plotly using pip, I can never import plotly in a python file. I always get the error: no module named plotly
from plotly.py.
i have python 2.7.14 & plotly : Version: 2.2.1 on my mac.
still running into error import plotly
ImportError: No module named plotly
any help is apprecaited.
