I just have a little test, if I use == 0 to identify did the date is not provided, some results are unexcepted. if I use == null, the cell content will become empty.

=if([$Expiry_x0020_Date] >0, '100%', '50%')
has date show 100%
no date show 50%

=if([$Expiry_x0020_Date] <0, '100%', '50%')
has date show 50% Unexcepted, should be 100%
NO DATE show 50%

has date show 50%

Looks like you figured out the first issue with spaces in the name (you use the internal column name which includes the escape characters).
