I've just tested this, toggling eth0 (yes, that's the WLAN interface) off then fairly quickly back on again. The connection to the server survived, as expected.

I can see that this may be a problem if the IP address is different on re-establishing the link to the AP or if the link is down for too long (since the server is likely to close the connection).

Nice, thank you for testing. This was actually an issue reported by a user and I had not looked into it. So I think this issue can be closed?

Unsure. It may be worth notifying the user if the network connection is lost and when a new one is established; if the local IP address is different, maybe try to reconnect (but ask, perhaps?)… not sure if this is possible or practical, though.

Network configuration plays a part in this, I suspect. Here, the connection is handled using source NAT, but the user who reported the problem may have been connected to a network which uses masquerading. (Difference is that masqueraded connections are lost if the interface goes down.)
