make -j2 seems to work?

What do you think about adding a ruby-install parameter which would be passed through to -j?

Sounds good. Both make and rake support a -j option.

I think this might already work by exporting MAKEFLAGS="-j2" before calling ruby-install. My (admittedly limited) understanding of make is that it looks for that env variable and applies the flags, so you don't have to append the flag everywhere you call make.
Perhaps this should be added to the readme or usage instead of having another parameter? What do you think @postmodern?

That works for me, thanks @caius! I guess this can be closed. I don't know if this addresses the other ruby flavors though.
