Hi! It's only possible to upload file objects ( that end up in $_FILES ) using async methods ( fetch or XMLHttpRequest ), unfortunately, that's a browser limitation as it's impossible to set a value to a file input ( dropped files cannot be stored in the input ).

Suppose the above PHP script ( without the if statement ) is located in a file called post.php this should work.

<input type="file" name="fileToUpload" id="fileToUpload" class="filepond" accept="image/png" data-server="post.php">
$check = getimagesize($_FILES["fileToUpload"]["tmp_name"]);
if($check !== false) {
    echo "File is an image - " . $check["mime"] . ".";
    $uploadOk = 1;
} else {
    echo "File is not an image.";
    $uploadOk = 0;
}

The response of the server is then stored in a hidden input field, which can then be posted on form submit. That way you can still determine which file was uploaded with the form. The PHP boilerplate template returns a unique id for each file that is uploaded, files remain in a tmp folder till the form is actually submitted.

from filepond.
