very cool. What do you think about the base_path being able to be passed in as well? This would allow the raw text of the server.ini to be passed in via a string as well. This may be overkill right now, but we support this in Mapnik and its seen heavy use - to allow Mapnik XML to be read into a memory string and then passed around and re-loaded that way.

Ok, cool idea. I will leave the issue open then. Ideally, the entire data loading will be done by a separate process at one point.

/cc @DennisOSRM - re-opening - it appears that this behavior regressed. File paths are now interpreted relative to the calling program and no longer relative to the server.ini. If this is intended/needed I understand and can adapt, but just want to make sure.

.ini files are no longer used so relative to calling program (or pwd) is the only thing that makes sense.
