The --verbose gave good insights. All I had to do was adding .heroku/ to .gitignore. Thank you so much for the help!

Note that extend-exclude is a regex. If your regex ends with /*, it matches anything that ends with any number of / characters. You probably want /.* at the end instead.

@JelleZijlstra well noted, thanks for that. I just tried with the /.* in the end, but no luck either. Any insights on what I'm doing wrong here?

Not sure. Try passing --verbose to get more information on exactly what Black is running.
