Hi - it looks like the Gnu ELPA package archive is currently incorrectly configured: the file "http://elpa.gnu.org/packages/archive-contents" claims that the archive contains a package for org, but no corresponding tar file is available in the archive.

To work around this issue, which I hope is temporary, you can comment out these two lines in init-elpa.el:

Thank you so much, I never thought I'll get your response so soon :)
I'll try it out, and give you my feedback as soon as possible.

It works now, thanks!

But I'm still confused that I do get an error message something like "parse HTTP in an odd way" (I'm not sure), but it has gone after I try to compile again.

Anyway, thank you and your works

Glad it's working for you now.

The first time you start Emacs after installing the emacs.d config, it downloads a large number of packages; it seems that there are often HTTP errors during that process, and sometimes it is necessary to restart Emacs several times until all the packages are loaded. :-) (I'm not sure if the problem is due to bugs in Emacs or package.el, or to configuration issues with upstream package servers.)

Hi Purcell,
Still remember me? :)
Thanks for your .emacs.d repo, and I have customized it myself.
Am I allowed to create my own customized repo (based on yours) on github? Because I have to sync my customized .emacs.d between computers over github.
Will it infringe your right? If so, I'll give up this idea. :)

Sure -- just fork this project, and commit your customizations in your fork. A bunch of other people are already doing the same thing: https://github.com/purcell/emacs.d/network

Oh, I didn't know this feature of github before, thanks for your reply.
