@mraspaud Is this code still used by the xarray/dask stuff? We don't do slicing in those cases right?

No, we don't have the segment parameter in the dask/xarray version

Marking this as wontfix for now. If someone wants this performance improvement but doesn't want to use dask for some reason then they can reopen it in the future.
