Ok, I see the remark now. I feel like this should be out of the knowl. I think it makes the content easier to follow, as opposed to being something extra.

Maybe the blue box is there so that later in the section it makes sense to say that the linear combinations of a single vector form a line containing the vector? I feel like this would be easier if we said that you get the line through v, thought of as a point.

I took the remark out of the knowl.
I don't think there's any way around the fact that vectors generally start at the origin. Otherwise you can't say things like "a subspace contains the origin" or "a span has to contain the origin". Anyway the only time you ever move a vector is to apply the parallelogram law.
