This is probably for one of the modules included in R*, and might be better filed against that repo.

I've just filed bugs against the two downstream repos involved. I do think this makes sense to address in some way on the Rakudo Star level, i.e. it makes sense to have some modules run network tests when installed standalone, but when installed as part of some distro maybe not.
I don't know whether there's any opinion by the rakudo star maintainers on this. I think it would make sense to export some env var like NO_NETWORK_TESTS
and have the bundled modules pick that up, but maybe there's some better way to do this.

In practice this is still broked in the latest Rakudo Star due to a non-response by this module author: perl6/perl6-pod-to-bigpage#4
But closing this issue since there seems to be little interest in changing the default.

Yeah thanks for that. The change to lwp works perfectly, that test suite no longer has any failures. But Rakudo as a whole still fails due to the outstanding similar issue with Pod::To::BigPage.

I am not sure Pod::To::BigPage is needed for the part of perl6/doc that R* is using.

To remind me to make sure somehow Pod::To::BigPage isn't installed. There is also an issue with it using LWP::Simple which I'm trying to remove.

Seems better in a new ticket.
