How about
this.WhenAnyObservable(x => x.ViewModel.HelloWorld)
.Subscribe(_ => MessageBox.Show("It Worked!"));
You can WhenAny through DependencyProperties just like you can WhenAny through VMs. However, the caveat is, you need to wrap this in a WhenActivated or else you'll leak memory because lolwpf:
this.WhenActivated(d => {
d(this.WhenAnyObservable(x => x.ViewModel.HelloWorld)
.Subscribe(_ => MessageBox.Show("It Worked!")));
});
By wrapping anything that returns IDisposable in the d
method, this means that when this View exits the screen, the subscription is cleaned up. You do not have to clean up subscriptions normally, this is only to work around Dependency Properties being not great.

Pretty cool! Is there a plan to update the ReactiveUI samples? I'm trying to refer other developers on my team to pull down the samples so I'm not the bottleneck when questions arise. To that end, I'd be willing to upgrade the packages and get each project working on the latest version of RxUI.

@mishfit If you want to have a go at updating the samples that be great!
