What if we modify the file generate_conda_file.sh, and for pyspark we read the version of the machine and put it in the conda file?
Any better idea?

What happens if you use >=2.3.0 ? Does this install 2.3.1 if available?

spark/pyspark doesn't seem to be version cross compatible (not even minor 2.3.0 vs 2.3.1), fixing the version might be our best bet.

+1 on @miguelgfierro's idea - check and install. DSVM imaging is changing all the time, and even a minor version mismatch between spark and pyspark leads to disaster.
