Did you solve this issue? We don't use ROS Melodic yet, so it is not a priority for us to have this running on it.

I did solve this issue, it is not related to melodic, but the way that this node runs through the Steam runtime. I think this package was made before SteamVR got proper linux support, which can result in library discrepancies with newer versions of OpenVR and SteamVR.

The solution is to run the node through the Steam runtime as shown here (RUNTIME REQUIREMENTS):
