The default desktop, i3 on X11 (or sway on Wayland, once it is compatible enough), with a custom status bar (penguinphone-status). Wallpaper is from Dablim on DeviantArt, license is CC-BY-3.0. You can open up the application launcher by touching the rocket symbol on the top right. All icons in the statusbar are from Font Awesome (OFL licensed).

Now an application window is open (penguinphone-launcher). The title gets displayed in the statusbar, as well as a close button (touch it to close the focused window). The rocket icon changed into a bars icon, which will be used to switch between open applications.

The list of applications displayed can be configured in a simple config file. Freedesktop.org .desktop-files are not supported right now.

penguinphone GUIs are written with the efficient Elementary toolkit (something like GTK or QT). You can use its configuration interface to increase the button and font size for all Elementary-based applications, so they become mobile friendly.

When you have multiple applications opened, just tap the bar-icon on the top right and switch between them. To start another application, tap the bar-icon first, and once penguinphone-alttab is open, you can tap the rocket again to open the launcher.
