gohack needs to modify the file, so it must be writeable by the current user. I presume you're not running gohack as root.

Nope running it as me. And I can run vi and edit the file just fine. Don't see why it should have permissions denied. Ray

It would be great if you could provide some more details here, ideally some instructions as to reproduce this from scratch.

What's your GOPATH setting? What exact gohack command did you run? What does go env print? What module are you currently working in, and in what directory?
