This email address is actually valid by RFC, as a domain without a top level domain is considered a local domain name. Other email address validation libraries also return true
for a similar address:
However, JMail recognizes that this type email address should usually be considered invalid in real-world use. You should use JMail.strictValidator().isValid()
in order to achieve what you want. For example:
// This returns true as you noticed
JMail.isValid("agadgf@fsaf");
// This returns false, which is what you desire
JMail.strictValidator().isValid("agadgf@fsaf");
The validator returned by strictValidator()
includes these rules:
disallowIpDomain()
requireTopLevelDomain()
disallowExplicitSourceRouting()
If you don't want all three of those rules you can just include the one that requires a top level domain:
// This returns false for your email address as well
JMail.validator().requireTopLevelDomain().isValid("agadgf@fsaf");
