You need to modify following line in test-plugin/test-plugin.php file.

$wp_plugin_auto_update = new WpPluginAutoUpdate('http://www.ronakg.com/wp_plugin_auto_update/', 'stable', basename(dirname(__FILE__)));

Change the first argument to be the location of index.php file on your own website, which will parse requests and respond.

The code in test-plugin.php is what takes over Wordpress's update checks.

I know the documentation is not very good, I'll try to make it more clear soon.
