My question would be whether to have a function that converts the tall to nested. We'd have to think about the level issue.

If we did this with the current api I think we would have
~var, ~values, ~formatted

I also might want to add a ~class column.

Just experimenting but

iris_sk <- skim(iris)
stat_list <- split(iris_sk[c(2:length(iris_sk))], iris_sk$skim_variable  )
iris_sk_compact <- tibble(iris_sk$skim_variable, iris_sk$skim_type, stat_list)

Though I'd probably ultimately drop the NAs (maybe not, have to think about what the use cases are). But it is definitely more do-able in v2. We should definitely document how to it for v2.
