This breaks the builds for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS because it ships with json-c 0.9. Specifically, your PPA for amd64 is broken because of implicit pointer conversions (which happen because json_tokener_error_desc() is not defined). Probably the appropriate solution since 12.04 is still LTS is to check for json_tokener_error_desc (or json-c >= 0.10 when this function was added) and use it only then. Otherwise use the old method.
