That comment probably stems back to 6 years ago or so. omdiag was a first attempt to provide some runtime stats (plus some ways to modify behaviour for the testbench). It turned out that impstats is a much better solution. So imdiag is right now just in use for the testbench and no longer scheduled to do anything in production.
That said, I'll see what all needs to be updated.
