Thanks for the report! I've got some good news for you as well :). There's a large PR right now which removes the 'static bound and enables precisely the use case you've mentioned here, a future with borrowed data that you then call .await() on so you know it doesn't leave the stack frame (e.g. scoped-thread-style).
Other than that it looks like everything would also be possible? Was that your main concern?
