Sounds like a good idea.

as per npmjs it continues to have 279,673 weekly downloads, alongside 943 npm-published dependents. so (for better or for worse) to some extent it still seems in use.
(my own use-case was tryton crm, which seems to still use it as well.)
looks like correspondence about handing projects to the nix-community org are held at their discussions page.
