I'm experiencing this exact same error.

Please try with the latest git head. Clone / pull the repo and run scripts/rvm-update (I am assuming that this is already the last line in your bash_profile or zshrc:

if [ -f ~/.rvm/scripts/rvm ] ; then source ~/.rvm/scripts/rvm ; fi
