Also, I add node_modules/.bin to my path. Now, whether I install things globally or locally the binaries work:
export PATH=node_modules/.bin:$PATH

Can you try another command-line module and see if you have the same problem? As I understand it, module /bin scripts with npm are supposed to just work™.

I have this issue @ryanflorence , I tried adding that to my bash profile (OSX)

@ryanflorence Thank you, adding export PATH=node_modules/.bin:$PATH to .bash_profile works for me
