We need:

• "Real mode" (hardware is given to a single application, who manages it with interrupts alone) -> CLAIM/RELEASE_HARDWARE
• "Interrupt mode" (all applications receive interrupts [and send?]) -> REGISTER/REMOVE_INTERRUPT
• "Driver mode" (a driver daeomon somehow interacts with the processes registered with it) -> ???
• ???

Or there is only "Driver Mode", which internally [might] give "Real mode" to a single application etc.

That might actually work pretty good. The boot menu should have a "driver manager" where you can match driver instances to pieces of hardware...
