@nji-syd the error message reads can't pickle _thread.lock objects, which tells you there was an error pickling your estimator. This probably stems from the check_estimators_pickle test. To fix it, you'd best omit the reference to that object from the library from your estimator, if possible (i.e. only use it as local variable in fit())

The issue is that tf.Variable is not pickable. At the moment of making a clone of the class, we will try to copy this variable which is then failing.

You will have to check in tensorflow documnetation how to handle this case.
