Yeah, this is a problem. I think that there are some other elements that report bad values too (often 0).

To clarify, though, the above app doesn't quite work (Shoes doesn't do puts). Try this:

Shoes.app :width => 200, :height => 200 do
  button "Print the values" do
    para "(width,height) : (#{width},#{height})"
  end
end

@wasnotrice the above written by @davorb does seem to work - you get the output on the console. The para version doesn't seem to work as para seems to be unimplemented :-/

Oh, I was running in Red Shoes. I thought the observation was that Red Shoes does it wrong :)

Tried to reproduce this, and couldn't. The width and height update just fine for me! Maybe this was fixed and the issue hasn't been closed?

Though, I did run into another thing, that probably should be it's own issue: the starting width wasn't 200. 👎

Yep you're right. About the starting width, that is a bigger SWT cross platform problem that I'm trying to solve but am not quite there, see this PR: #174 and this issues #173 - and please ignore that they read height, width is meant ^^
