The use case for deskshell is to run on the users desktop machine, so the application is running locally rather than being downloaded from the internet. The greatly reduces the need to do things like digital signing. It would be possible to create an installer for your application using install shield or NSIS or other technology and then sign that installer if it is necessary for regulations or policies that you need to follow. You can look at the deskshell portable packages, these give you a folder that will run from anywhere you put it. Then you can add your applications and build an installer around that.
