Yep, sounds good. Do you want to submit a pull request for this, against SS 3.0 installer, and the code generating the .htaccess in sapphire? Ideally you can also check if web.config for IIS has a way to check for regexes or the start of a URL only as well.

That will cause the RedirectMatch to only work when SilverStripe is running in the base folder of a domain.

not sure how IIS work... but I'll look into it.
Will have to update the RegEx too so it's not so restrictive.
