There is a fair bit of discussion on that in #297

but to address

to 1: this could be achieved via implementing some access to the tape, there have been some changes from @PSeitz lately that enables this so it'll happen eventually :D
to 2: creating the tape is achieving this you can validate the document w/o the need to fully create a complex data structure.
