I noticed my eyes kind of get lost with nothing but numbers on the calendar.
I think a grid would make it easier to look at, keeping the eye moving up, down, left, right.
Just a thin line is all that's needed; it would make it look really sharp and contained.
A toggle setting would work if not everyone wants this.

Simple Calendar crashing everytime after update to 1.21

I updated the to 1.21. The widget crashed instantly.
Then, I tried to open the app. Crashed again.
So, I tried to downgrade. Even in 1.20 or 1.19 versions, the app is crashing after the update. Even after cleaning data.
So, I cannot use the app. Here is the logcat:

EDIT: changed the logcat file. It seemed "broken" on notepad on Windows. I used linux to generate it.

[Feature Request] Julian calendar

The Julian calendar is still used in Eastearn Orthodox churches even if it has been replaced by Gregorian calendar until today, an example of this usage can be found at Ponomar Project.

Week number shifted by -1

On my device (OnePlus X (ONE E1003)) running ResurrectionRemix 5.7.4 with german system date format the displayed week numbers are shifted by -1 as well as this years week 1 (Jan 4-10) is numbered 53 of the previous year.

I just saw your projects and loved the idea. For this one, I am wondering if you plan to display the synced calendar? Or will you keep it simpler?

[Feature Request] Repeat/recurring event option

There are various types of events that people might want to have recur at a given interval (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly), such as birthdays, bill pay reminders, etc.

On the edit event screen this could be added after the reminder option.

Unable to navigate more than 30 days in Details view

From whatever date is tapped, I can't navigate back or forward more than 30 days.
It would be better unlimited.

[Feature request] Allow default reminder time in minutes

Would it be possible to have a setting that allows for a custom default time rather than needing to enter the minutes each time? Having both side by side would be good but having a default of 30 or 60 minutes would be fairly helpful. Would save time adding a bunch of events and typing in the minutes each time.

Day back arrow in details view navigates two days previous instead of one

This bug is new in v1.16

To reproduce problem:

1. Launch calendar app or widget.
2. Touch/select any day in any month
3. Touch '<' arrow and the day will change to two days previous (n-2 instead of n-1).

Unable to edit single event for recurring task

In relation to #16 which has been working, I have found that a single event of a recurring set cannot be modified. Instead it modifies all entries even if those in the future should remain at a set time.

To duplicate: create a recurring task (in my case I used bi-weekly). Edit one of the sonnest upcoming task times. You will notice all in the set have the time changed.

It would be nice with an share button on the saved event, that exports to vcal and allows to send it thru any app installed that supports attachments eg. email.

App breaks when changing months after the actual

I can browse months from before the actual. Like from August to July, June..
Changing from June to July and August works normal. If I try to advance to September, the app freezes.

Reminder notification not working

Using Android 6.0.1 stock ROM with root I set a reminder of 30 before an event but never recived any sort of notification. I do not use the widget on my home screen so I am unsure if that is related.

What type of notification should be expected, and can a default reminder be set? For instance always use 1 hour before an event.

Day forward arrow in details view does not advance day

Hello. I'm not a tech person. Forgive me if this not the right way to submit a bug report.

Simple Calendar 1.15, Android 6.0.1, Cyanogenmod 13 nightly

To reproduce problem:

1. Launch Simple Calendar (or navigate to widget)
2. Touch (select) any day in any month. This will load details view.
3. Touching the '>' arrow to advance the day forward registers the touch, but the day/date does not advance forward.

[Feature] Solarized color scheme

Would it be possible to get the solarized color scheme as an option for this? It might contrast with the orange header but soloarized is much easier to read, especially the dark version.

Month title always says "Llll" since upgrade to v1.16

Since I upgraded to v1.16 the month title always says "Llll" in the app and in the widget. Every month has the same title. I tried downgrading, re-upgrading, uninstalling, re-installing, wiping all the apps stored settings then reinstalling, reinstalling older versions... I tried everything I could think of, but no matter what I do, every month is now called "Llll" and this wonderful simple lil app is now unusable for me. I've got a motorola droid razr m running non stock and rooted android v4.1.2. I did not see this bug at all before the upgrade to v1.16, but since the upgrade all versions show the same issue.
Any and all help / ideas would be very gratefully received, thanks...

force close when opening settings

Phone: sonim xp6, android 4.4.2, rooted, all google things removed, with microG & xposed

Cannot add Tasks

In Samsung's S Planner it is possible to add both Events and Tasks. In Simple Calendar it is possible to add Events but not Tasks, are you going to implement it?

Multiselection not working properly and deleting events

Hi very nice app but there is a bug.

in DayActivity.java if you multiselect items they are never getting deleted .
Only if you select one item it works. Also i´m getting a database error while selecting multiply items.

In DBHelper i have changed deleteEvent to make it working if i select multiply items like this:

Add birthdays/anniversaries with calculating age/years

Current day does not change with local device day/time

This issue was present as early as v1.17 and is present in v1.20.

Problem:
The default behavior of the app/widget on the month view is to 'highlight' the current day by displaying the numerals in a larger font and/or bolding them. This is the indication to the user that the calendar has switched days.

Thus, when the local device time changes from 11:59pm to 12:00am (or 23:59 to 00:00), it is expected the the current day would highlight the next numeral in the sequence of days, but this does not occur immediately.

Instead, the local device date (day) changes, but the calendar remains on the same day for a period of time (hours?). I am not sure how much time passes before the calendar matches the local device time. I suspect this is a locale or timezone related bug.

Feature Request: event color-tagging.

Nice app --- almost as clean as taskwarrior (CLI). With event color-tagging it could replace Offline Calendar on my device.

[Feature Request] Traditional Chinese Calendar

On Ku’an wang many users complains that this app does not support traditional Chinese calendar (known as Lunar calendar (农历, nónglì) in Chinese). I suggest you to implement it. I guess you to create this feature as plugin, which looks like other app (.apk), but it cannot be launched, also does not display the icon on the launcher, it must be run when Simple Calendar is launched, with this way you can also get support for many other non-Gregorian calendars.

Dark background color

It would be nice to be able to use a dark mode (preferable a #000 background), especially for AMOLED devices where this can save battery.

Of course this is basically valid for all SimpleMobileTools.

[feature request] Make end time optional

Allow to leave the end time empty, allowing to quicker add simple events
