I remember completion crashing my shell some months ago. I used to get segmentation faults frequently. I'm pretty sure that it's related to a buggy Zsh version. Can you install a newer Zsh version on that Ubuntu machine?

I had a similar issue on a Debian VM, which I connected to over SSH. Every time I used the git completion the SSH connection would close down after reaching a certain depth in the path. I managed to resolve this issue by upgrading Zsh from version 4.3.10 to 4.3.12.

Ah interesting, I'm running 4.3.10, so that's likely the culprit. I can upgrade zsh on there, so I'm going to go ahead and close this issue unless I find that an upgrade hasn't fixed it.

Upgrade to the latest. Lots of bugs have been fixed.

I'm also experiencing this on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and the latest zsh, 4.3.15 doesn't seem to help. It's also the same case, crashing on git commands that involve completing filenames, while completing directories doesn't crash it.

Find out how Ubuntu compiles and packages Zsh. This is not an Oh My Zsh bug. Shells are not supposed to crash.

I've compiled from source, and this is still occurring, but I think you're right about it being a zsh problem.
