Cannot toggle disabled in controlled component

Sortable options can be changed by calling the option method. As a temporary solution, you can use the ref to get reference to the sortable instance.

<Sortable
    ref={node => {
        if (node) {
            this.sortable = node.sortable;
        }
    }}
>
    {items}
</Sortable>

and update the disabled state in componentWillReceiveProps:

componentWillReceiveProps(nextProps) {
    if (this.sortable && (nextProps.readonly !== this.props.readonly)) {
        this.sortable.option('disabled', nextProps.readonly);
    }
}

1 year latter lol, still if anyone else runs into this my fix for this is using the key:

const key = "PlaceHolderKey-"+(this.props.disableSort ? 'off' : 'on');

    tag="ul"
