Hi @fletchowns
I tried to reproduce this is using the v1.11.0 release using the centos 5.10 opscode image.

I was unable to get the same error. Any ideas as to how your environment might be different?

Thanks for checking it out @svanzoest. I also was not able to reproduce the issue using the centos 5.10 opscode image.
It appears that the base box already had Apache 2.2.3 installed. If I do a yum remove -y httpd
before my chef run then it completes successfully, I do not encounter the "undefined symbol: proxy_module" error in my original ticket. It's strange though, because after the chef run, the same Apache 2.2.3 version is installed on the machine. Any idea on how to debug further?

All the proxy_*
modules depend on mod_proxy
so you would get that error if only mod_proxy_ajp
is configured without mod_proxy
configured too. It could be that someone manually removed the LoadModule
directive for mod_proxy.
