In terms of using a script vs manually documenting it:
My personal opinion is that a script is better than documentation as it will help the majority of users get running very quickly. I also believe if you are going to use a super obscure Linux setup your probably already going to have to have a decent understanding of package management and would be able to resolve any issues you run into. The script is very clear about what is needed so with some Googling you could work it out.
As for why not asdf:
As for asdf, I have personally never used it and have no experience with the ins and outs of using it. I also don't like the fact that we would be requiring all developers to install it. Potentially it could be added to the script where it would detect if you have it installed like it does with other package managers, this integration I would be open to.
I would also point to the Tauri docs which include a command for Debian, Arch and Fedora which the installation script is based on. If these three commands are enough for a project like Tauri, I think our script will suffice but this is all just my opinions and I would be happy to hear if anyone else also disagrees with me.
I would also be interested to hear if @jamiepine or @Brendonovich have differing opinions?
